Asbestos slate tiles

Once asbestos slate tiles became commercially available, the mixes and fibre content varied over the span of use, which came to an end around 1980.

The double-edged sword of asbestos is prevalent in cement fibre tiles, as it is a harmful material in free air, and yet the best material for thin tiles. These forms of tiles are usually laid in honeycomb patterns or diamond configuration. The usual care should be taken with them as they contain asbestos but, if left undamaged, they are manageable within the asbestos management regulations.
