Anding-on, adds and deducts
There are quite a few occasions during the measurement process where more than one item has the same set of dimensions. In order to avoid timely repetition description that refer to the same dimensions can be anded on as illustrated below:

In this situation although the two items added on have different units (m2 and m3) the 2 items can be added on and the description column used to make the necessary adjustments.
Adds and deducts
During the measurement process it is often necessary to add to or deduct from the quantities that have been previously measured. This is done by use the notations Add and Ddt. As the item to which the Add or Ddt refers to can be many sheets of dimension paper away it is vitally important that the Add or Ddt is referenced back to the item to which it refers. A common fault when using adds and ddts is to continue the sequence over the page to a different column. Never and-on over a page.
