Basements waterproofing
Introduction
There are roughly 550,000 dwellings out of the national stock of around 20 million with at least part of their living space below ground. Of these, three-quarters were built pre-1919. The BRE estimates that at least 1 in 20 is subject to penetrating or rising damp – but surely this is an under-estimation. At the very least, we have out there some 30,000 annoyingly damp basements – plenty of inspections for surveyors for years to come.
