Headquarters of Renewable Energy Systems Limited, a company who design and manufacture renewable energy systems such as wind turbines. The project was the refurbishment of an existing Ovaltine egg farm into a modern office building suitable as a corporate HQ and included:
- 225 kW wind turbine;
- grey water re-use;
- photovoltaic cells;
- growing on site of wood chip, which is then used in the biomass boiler to provide hot water and heating for the building;
- one of the new buildings partly sunk into the ground;
- ground water cooling from borehole going down into chalk aquifer;
- seasonal underground 1,400m3 heat store, storing heat from the photovoltaics in the summer, for use in the winter.
