Value of BIM-enabled FM

Collaboration between key people involved in the design, construction and O&M phase of a building allows for knowledge to be captured and exchanged for a better understanding of the whole life cycle of a building. This in turn encourages longer-term thinking that reduces the overall cost of the building.

Early FM involvement is seen as a key opportunity for facilities management in the BIM4FM survey undertaken by the BIM task group in 2013.
