JCT Design and Build Contract 2011 - what's new?

JCT Design and Build (DB) 2011 is likely to remain the first choice for experienced end users delivering a large project with a need for some design responsibility to be passed to the contractor. Developers will find this updated version of the form familiar but will need to watch out for several significant differences compared to the 2005 forms especially in relation to payment, insurance and insolvency. These changes make the form compliant with Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 which came into force on 1 October 2011.

In short, this latest version of the DB form seeks to keep pace with new legislation and has built upon the significant restyling that came with the JCT 2005 edition and the innovations that came with the subsequent revisions to that edition.
