Environmental Audit

An Environmental Audit provides an assessment of the 'perceived risk' that the site may provide in relation to the potential presence of 'contaminated land' based on background research and a site inspection/walkover. This normally includes:

  • an internal and external walkover of the site (not included within the Desktop);
  • an external walkover of the immediate site environs (not included within the Desktop);
  • a historical search of archive records encompassing historical mapping, available library literature and street directories;
  • regulatory enquiries including building control, environmental health, planning, the Petroleum Licensing Authority and the Environment Agency;
  • a review of any previous investigation reports including data room information;
  • a review of the environmental sensitivity based upon available geological, hydrological and hydrogeological data; and
  • the provision of a factual report with risk assessment and environmental liability risk ratings.
