The scope of an Environmental Audit Desktop is similar to that of an Environmental Audit with the exception of a site visit not taking place. A Desktop may be advised over an Audit for the following reasons:

• A Desktop may act as a provisional report to identify the likelihood of contamination existing at a site. If this is the case then a full Environmental Audit may then be advised.
• The Desktop fee would usually be less and the turnaround time would normally be quicker as it does not include a site visit.

A full Environmental Audit would, however, normally be advised in order to fully to identify any current issues of concern, such as a leaking fuel storage tank or the presence of an adjacent brook or stream.

Other products are available in the market as an alternative to an Environmental Audit, such as Land Condition Records and Land Quality Statements.
