When re-roofing pitched roofs – particularly on semi-detached or terraced houses – take account of the risk of fire spread.

Solution

A mortar fire stopping should be applied to close the voids left by the roofing battens over the top of the party wall. Depending on the extent and location of the work, you may need to issue a Party Wall Notice. Section 2(2) of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 describes the various scenarios that apply in this instance.
