Repairs: plumbing and heating
Problem 5: Radiator sizing
Many reception rooms are fitted with a gas fire of some description: the radiator sizes could have been too small and frequently the gas fires have to be used to generate sufficient room heating rather than being considered as an optional 'feature', or as a 'sales feature' in modern homes.
Solution
Once room sizes and volumes have been established, an early negotiation with the contractor should ensure that a more effective and efficient heating system can be installed from new rather than becoming a source of complaint on completion of the project.
Radiators should be accurately sized to suit room 'load' for maximum boiler efficiency.
